For those of you who may be wondering about the logic of this strip… Originally I had thought to have Bunz & Katz conduct their investigation as a different detectives in each panel… Lieutenant Columbo, Holmes & Watson, Joe Friday, Charlie Chan an’ number one Bunny, Sam Schpade & Effie and so on… But once I got started on the Hard Boiled schtick, I enjoyed it so much that I just went with the patter for the whole page… Not to fret, next time we’ll be back with more Rock’em Sock’em Bat Temp action…
Ah yes, the Abandoned Glue Factory… A franchise of Acme Abandoned Warehouse, Inc…. a worldwide service offering Abandoned Warehouse Secret Lairs and Hideouts for Supervillains, Mad Scientists and Nogoodniks of every stripe. Subterranean Mad Labs and Rooftop Hidden Hangars optional at slight additional cost… Call today for our brochure!
The frail turns out to be quite a tomato when she’s got her glad rags on. Nice gams too. Is she working a Chinese angle as Katz’s moll or just grifting the rubes?
I love hard boiled jargon. I rejoice in the return of the genre to JQ Productions Inc.
Swell.
Congratulations Bob! I seethe with envy. My Navy reserve retirement pay kicks in this October but I will still be a company drone for another 5 years or so.
Should we be talking about all this “old guy” stuff here?
For CNN things went down hill every since they fired Captain Planet, they lost they sense of humor. Those that were once looking to buy into their market share might just have second thoughts. Who wants to join up with a spoil sport? They should have just responded to the “body slam” joke with “You got us good big guy — now please just get back to your presidential work”. But no, they just row their little boat back out into the deep so as to lob yet more harpoons into into the giant whale. That story never ends well.
Speaking of Crime and Punishment – This AM (the 6th) Seems that I finally got the July Calendar uploaded, Featuring Bunz & Katz plus a few other out of work Comix characters posing as the KeyStone Kops…
Just click on Moxie, (Her uniform somewhat inspired by Charlie Chaplin’s in “Easy Street”) to take you to the download page…
Looks like a Chibi-Moxie to me. But it’s amazing what you can hide in one of those old frock coats. Oh yeah – look again at Moxie on the Police truck – nothing hiding there WW.
Perhaps this will be Hard Boiled Katz next big case: “The Mystery of the Missing Gel-Cups”…
Meanwhile, can’t hurt to mention that I did a few small retouches and re-uploaded the calendar tonight (July 7th) Clicking on Moxie will take you to the updated calendar pix…
Thanks for the good sketch of Moxie. I like that she evidently doesn’t have fear as a part of her constitution. Such as she I would follow in even a one way battle past the Gates of Hell. For isn’t it better by far to fight and even to die, on the side of angels, rather than the other side? That other side quite without heart, and up to no damn good. This abstracted from a promise of a great after life party — or not.

Is it just me, or is Bunz showing a little bit better figure than normal?
So does this new job mean that (a) she’s not the Bat Temp anymore, and (2) that whole alien invasion thing is off?

Merry Fourth of July, guys.
I had to work. Crud. Thing about working in hospitals – they never close for the holidays.
I retired the Friday before. Really.

Well, Moxie is cute, as always… but she must have strapped down her mezzanine to fit into that floppy Chaplinesque uniform…
