Easter Dragnet Caper Pt3
As our moderately muddled tale of Crime and Easter Eggs continues, Rudie seems to have sussed out the multiplying bunny conundrum… Never the less, the alleged Easter Bunny remains at large… Seems it will require a citywide Drag… er… Egg-hunt to capture her…
Well, as Rookie Bunny made clear in the previous page, she (AKA Kelly O’Hare, part-time actress, superheroine and Marine recruiter), was the only one to show up for the casting call… meaning that this whole grandiose production has a total cast of two… but as long as it includes copious amounts of Bunnycake, who cares?
If all the bunnies are the same bit player bunny, any reason why Rudie couldn’t just arrest the script girl bunny as the alleged Easter Bunny?
Ah, but she’s playing an entirely different Bunny now…
I suppose the story logic to it, (if there is any logic)… WW is correct, the Bunny needs to be togged up as the alleged Easter Bunny before Rudie can apprehend her…
Before there was Dragnet, there was a radio show, “Pat Novak, for Hire”, the title character played by Jack Webb, speaking in his familiar dry Joe Friday delivery… Pat Novak worked the San Francisco waterfront and seemed always in trouble, often with a slinky femme-fatale involved… While Police Inspector Hellman, played by Raymond Burr (before he became famous playing Perry Mason) seemed always ready to frame Novak for any murders, or other felonies… (forcing Novak to do Hellman’s job of solving the crime for him)…
Common to most of the Pat Novak, for Hire episodes, at the finale, Hellman would have just one more question to ask Novak, which allowed Webb to deliver the capper line… (and that is where Rookie Bunny’s “Just One Question” line comes from)…
For those of you Firesign Theatre aficionados, Nick Danger (3rd Eye) and Lieutenant Bradshaw’s animosity echos that of Pat Novak and Inspector Hellman, which leaves me to wonder, could the Firesign gang have been recalling Pat Novak when they cooked up Nick Danger?
If you google Pat Novak you can find a number of the old radio shows, for free on line…
Who’s the Easter Bunny? Don’t tell me it can related to any other Bunny in these past page, that includes Kelly O’ Hare!
Weeelllll… There is a certain resemblance between the “Random Passerby Bunny” and Kelly O’Hare…
Even more resemblance to last April’s Easter Calendar Dendra Temple Bunny
Thanks a lot,Josh,You nailed it!
A quick thank you, Josh. I really enjoy your work. Looking forward to seeing Rudi put the Easter Bunny in cuffs while saying, book em, Katz.
